Family Forum Recap: Celebrating Innovation in Family Support
On June 19, the Family as Partners group hosted a highly successful Family Forum at the Abilities Centre Theatre in Whitby, proudly sponsored by the Ontario Caregiver Association. This event was organized in collaboration with Community Living Ajax Pickering and Whitby, Community Living Durham North, Developmental Services Ontario, Participation House, Durham Region, the Abilities Centre, and the Durham Association for Family Resources and Support.
The forum featured insightful presentations from family groups such as Achieve, Our Daughter's Home, Shared Dreams, and the Haliburton Smith Family. Families were able to hear directly from peers about innovative and effective support plans, creating a platform for sharing experiences and fostering a supportive community.
In addition to the presentations, the Forum showcased information booths from numerous partners. Attendees had the opportunity to engage with representatives from:
